Bangalore Itinerary for 2 Days – One thing to know before I list out places is that Bangalore is huge. Historical spots, gardens and theme parks, streets and malls, there’s no way to visit them all in a short time. Still, here’s my full list of things to do in Bangalore.

I’ve been in Bangalore for over a year and I still haven’t tried out everything. For one, Bangalore is a big city and it takes time to travel around. Two, it’s still growing – visit once a year and you’ll find something new every time!

It’s tough to plan a firm Bangalore itinerary for 2 Days, but I’ve included the most talked-about places in Bangalore. Also, I’ve added in some flexible changes in attractions based on what you’d prefer to visit. Happy planning!

Getting there and Accommodation

How to Get to Bangalore

Tourists come to Bangalore by bus, train, or by landing at the Kempegowda Airport.

Whether you’re traveling by bus, train, or flight – book your accommodations in the heart of the city. There are plenty of options to choose from. Also, this shall help you visit different attractions and return without much traveling.

Tips for budget accommodation in Bangalore

  1. Stay in central Bangalore: Not only is it easy to travel around from there but it’s also safer. Avoid dead cheap stays in the middle of nowhere.
  2. Look for places that are some distance from popular streets: Though the popular streets have great accommodations and services, they’re expensive. Luckily, with a few minutes of walk from them, you’re bound to find similar stays for lesser rates.
  3. Find stays that charge by the hour: There are some hotels where you can book by the hour. As you’ll be staying only for the night, it’ll help save more money.
  4. Check out hostels for solo travelers: For solo travelers who are looking only for a place to crash, check out HostelWorld stays. Some stays start from only 300-400 rupees! Look for stays that include breakfast.

Bangalore Itinerary for 2 Days

This Bangalore itinerary for 2 Days is for short visits only, it’s impossible to cover all of Bangalore in 2 days. People in Bangalore itself haven’t visited many places around. For a 2 day-trip, it’s best to avoid attractions that’ll take an entire day, for eg. Wonderla unless that’s the sole reason you’re visiting Bangalore.

So putting together the best of places, I built this list of things to do in Bangalore for 2 days.

That being said, here’s how to plan your Bangalore Itinerary for 2 days:

  1. Day 1: Arrive in Bangalore, visit Nandi Hills
  2. Walk at the Lalbagh Botanical Garden
  3. Stop by museums, historical monuments
  4. Go shopping on MG Road
  5. Enjoy the nightclubs and pubs
  6. Day 2:Walk around Cubbon Park
  7. Visit the Visvesvaraya Museum and State Central Library
  8. Check out Shopping malls
  9. Have street food at night!

As this Bangalore itinerary for 2 days is written keeping a general audience in mind, alter your itinerary based on how and who you’re traveling with.

Day 1 – Visit Nandi Hills

Bangalore itinerary for 2 days: visit Nandi Hills in the morning

Nandi Hills is the most popular weekend getaway for the people of Bangalore. While it lies 50 kilometers away and is the most talked of hills/betta in Bangalore, it isn’t overrated. It’s a beautiful place to visit in the morning. Whether you go walking, cycling, or trekking up the hills, it’s worth the time and the long drive.

If you’re landing in Bangalore via the Kempegowda Airport early morning, don’t miss out on visiting Nandi Hills as it’s closer to the airport than the rest of the city.

While the easiest way to get there is by car to the hilltop, I’d recommend parking your car below. Walk up the pathways – the breeze, greenery, smell of old temple structures, and the extraordinary views by the Tipu’s fort are all worth it! I’ve been up there by both, car and by walk – and I’d always prefer the walk. Read my complete Nandi Hills blog here.

It’s the perfect way to start your Bangalore trip. For accommodation here, you can book your stay at the Nandi Hilltop guest houses by KSTDC at reasonable prices. Check for the best prices at Booking.com below!

The next stop on the Bangalore itinerary for 2 days is the Lalbagh Botanical Garden: a vast garden and is a must-visit for plant lovers. With sections dedicated to different sorts of flowers spread all over the place – it’s a paradise on its own. It’s best to visit in the morning.

Don’t miss the glasshouse inside the botanical garden. There’s also a lake – Lalbagh by it to walk by. It’s best to visit this in the morning, thus a great way to start your day!

Bangalore Itinerary for 2 Days: Lalbagh Botanical Garden

It’ll take 2-3 hours to visit the Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bangalore. However, it can take a whole day for plant lovers considering the 1000+ species in this garden.

Here you can also buy plants, pots, and seeds from Horticulture Department Nursery inside.

Timings: It’s open on all days from 8 am to 6 pm and the entry fee is Rs.10.

Location: Mavalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560004

Go to Museums and Historical Monuments after Lunch

Some best places to visit are the Bangalore palace, HAL Aerospace Museum, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, and Bangalore Fort.

However, visit only the ones that you wish to visit. Say each attraction takes 2 hours on average to visit, you’ll be able to visit those 2 attractions. As the close timing for all is 5:30 pm, visit the others the following day.

When visiting the Summer Palace, it’s best to call the Bangalore Fort after it as it’s only a 5-10 minutes walk away.

Bangalore Palace and Fun World Amusement Park

With its rich history and its astounding structure sprawled over 450 acres of land, the Bangalore Palace is one of the best places to visit in Bangalore. Don’t miss out on the beautiful palace surrounded by breathtaking greenery. The entrance gardens, the interiors, all of it’s worth the visit!

Bangalore Itinerary for 2 days: Bangalore Palace

It costs Rs. 230 for locals and Rs. 460 for foreigners. While the Palace urges one to take pictures, it costs to take pictures on the inside. Read more about the Bangalore Palace here. From the Lalbagh Botanical Garden, the Bangalore Palace is 7 km away (20 minutes drive). From there, the nearest attraction to see is the Fun World, Amusement Park.

The amusement park is 4 km away from the Bangalore Palace. With water rides, a Ferris wheel, the crazy Fireball, and many other cool rides, the amusement park is great to visit for children. 2-3 hours is sufficient to cover this amusement park

For a better fun theme park experience, I’d recommend visiting the Wonderla Theme park in Bangalore. With the amusement park located on the southern outskirts of the city, it’s a full-day trip. But it’s definitely worth the price and time. Read my review and guide to visiting Wonderla Bangalore.

HAL Aerospace Museum

The HAL Aerospace Museum features dozens of real-life size fighter jets. It’s a paradise for plane lovers but really – it’s a great place to visit for people of all ages and interests. The exhibits with their extraordinary sizes upfront are fascinating at sight.

Read more about the HAL Aerospace Museum on Whatshot.in. It costs Rs. 50 for adults and Rs. 30 for under 18 and students.

Location: While visiting this attraction takes 2-3 hours, it is a 20-minute drive from the Lalbagh Botanical Garden. Located on the east side of Bangalore, another sweet place to visit is the Therpup cafe.

For dog lovers, here’s a good plan:

  • After your visit to the Lalbagh Botanical Garden in the morning, have lunch at the Therpup cafe which is a 40 minutes drive away.
  • The HAL Aerospace Museum is on the way back to the heart of the city – spend your evening there.
  • The museum closes at 5 pm. So you can return to do the next thing in Bangalore – shopping!

Go Shopping on MG Road

MG road is one of the busiest and most popular streets in all of Bangalore. Any local you ask will know about this place. MG (Mahatma Gandhi Road) is a vast marketplace in the heart of the city.

It runs parallel to Church Street, a 750-meter stretch paved all the way from end to end. The MG road is great for shopping, restaurants, nightlife, and clubs. While the night exhibits a spectacular view of the lavish-lit streets, the streets boast its nightlife even more on special occasions like New Year!

Church Street – Bangalore Itinerary for 2 days

Street shopping: Make sure to visit MG Road early in the evening. A good time would be from 7 – 9 pm. The shops begin to close from 11 pm here and isn’t advisable for late-night visits unless you’re looking forward to nightclubs.

Enjoy the Night clubs and pubs

One reason youngsters fall for Bangalore is its nightlife. The pubs, the bars, the all-night party clubs on special occasions – they’re all here!

You’ll find nightclubs and bars all over Bangalore, but Church Street is the main hub for it. After shopping in MG Road, you can check out this street straight away. However, this isn’t a family-friendly item on the Bangalore itinerary for 2 days.

Tip: Book your reservations for dance clubs in advance. Popular clubs have reserved guest lists for entry.

We visited the MG Road over 11 after visiting a mall once. Apart from the nightclubs and the Hard Rock Cafe, all the shops were shut. So make sure to visit earlier.

All we could do was ride around on the Yulu Bikes.

Day 2 – Walk in the Cubbon Park

Bangalore itinerary for 2 days: Cubbon Park is my favorite place in all of Bangalore. Located in the middle of the city with vehicles circling around it, and people rushing to work in the mornings, the park remains peaceful.

The evergreen paradise is so vast that it seeps in all the noise and lets you experience the heavenly birds chirping and rustling of trees.

Bangalore Itinerary for 2 Days: Walking in Cubbon Park

It puts off a similar vibe to the Lalbagh Botanical Garden. I recommend starting your day visiting Cubbon Park for two clear reasons:

  • Most attractions open late in the morning when you can visit Cubbon Park before 8 in the morning.
  • It’s a great way to start your day!

Some things to do at Cubbon park are;

Another great thing about this park is that you can walk to many other attractions from here. The last time I visited, we checked out the Visvesvaraya Museum after cycling.

Check out the Visvesvaraya Museum and State Central Library

The Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum is a 5 minute’s walk away from Cubbon Park. It’s a great family-friendly place to visit. Either this or the State Central Library first.

Bangalore Itinerary for 2 Days: Visveswaraya Museum

After spending your morning at Cubbon Park, have breakfast and walk around these two quiet loving attractions. I’ve yet to visit the State Library, but the key feature is its architecture. It boasts a large indoor space with red brick walls on the exterior and tall curved shelves on the inside.

Fun fact: The iconic library has been functioning for over a century now with copies of 3,00,000+ books.

Visiting the Visvesvaraya will take about 2-3 hours depending on how much time you find the working of things fascinating. Both – indoor and outdoor exhibits are addictive to observe – especially if you’re a science geek.

Another place to have a look at is the Vidhana Soudha – also known to house Karnataka’s Legislative Assembly. The 60+ years of Vidhana Soudha’s immense structure is something to awe.

Shop at malls!

With Gen Z tending to lean more towards the spending culture today, shopping malls are getting more business day by day. Apart from shopping, they’re great to drop by for movies, bowling, games, live music, and great restaurants.

The closest one to Cubbon Park is UB city. Some of the best malls that I’ve visited are Orion, VR, and Mantri Square. But the biggest one of all is the Phoenix Marketcity in Whitefield, Bangalore.

Here, visit on special occasions or on the weekends to experience live music on the outdoor performance stage in between the Phoenix mall and VR mall.

An alternative to malls is visiting the other two attractions – the ones you missed the previous day—for instance, the Tipu Sultan Summer palace and the Bangalore Fort.

Have Street Food at Night

There’s no Bangalore itinerary for 2 days without having street food here. When the nightlife can be incredibly expensive for a night, street food is cheap and great to have in the evenings! There are whole streets in Bangalore dedicated to street food.

I strongly recommend checking them out to the ones visiting from other states. Street food helps one understand what the locals love to taste and how much spice or sweetness they can handle. And the varieties of tastes on Bangalore food streets are just vast. Check out this list of food streets by Metrosaga.

Some tastes are addictive right away, but make sure to try all of them out. Don’t miss out on the stick of twist potato/ tornado potato!

Tips when Traveling Bangalore for a Short Visit

Apart from not visiting on weekends, here are some things to keep in mind to save time while taking a short trip to Bangalore:

How to Save Time when Traveling Bangalore

  1. Visit places in clusters nearby to you. Bangalore is known for its tiresome traffics. So it’s best to avoid them as much as possible. Visit an attraction and find walkable or close-by attractions to avoid the traveling hassle.
  2. Keep your bag light. A pair of shoes, some change of clothes, and chargers for your devices are all the essentials necessary. For a Bangalore itinerary for 2 days, one backpack for a person is sufficient.
  3. Travel more in the Daytime: As evening sets in, the traffic is intense. The nights starting from 6-7 pm are peak hours when everybody’s going home and you can get stuck for hours on highways at this time.
  4. Get up early and start moving! The roads, even in the most well-known areas, remain free in the mornings. Utilize it and visit places like Cubbon Park, run or cycle around in dedicated gardens.

Yep, Bangalore is known for its green squares, thus parks are a must-visit when traveling here.

Best time to visit Bangalore for a short trip

Before the popular spots engulf your time with their crowds, queues, and traffic, time your trip well. Bangalore itself is populated in its prime locations at all times – the holidays make it worse.

For a short getaway trip to Bangalore, make sure to visit on the weekdays. Say you do visit on the weekends, utilize time properly and visit places that are nearby – don’t spend too much time traveling.

Conclusion

That concludes the Bangalore itinerary for 2 days. Change your itinerary on what you’re looking forward to doing in Bangalore. If visiting museums, libraries, and parks isn’t your cup of tea or for children, reserve one day for Wonderla.

You can also spend one day at the Bannerghatta National Park and check out its zoo, butterfly parks, and safari to look at Tigers! Another exotic plan to make is visiting the Nandi Hills – a 50-kilometer drive from Bangalore.

It’s best to visit Nandi Hills early in the morning. Read more on my visit here: Nandi Hills Travel Guide from Bangalore
